ARE WE HUMAN
As an artist, I embrace Post-Painterly Abstraction: no visible brushstrokes, a seamless union of paint and surface, and vibrant colours expressing their own essential qualities. The process starts with a feeling, and a specific relationship observation. For every work, I create a small version, perfecting color and composition before sketching my outlines onto the canvas. The paint is all applied with a small 1” brush (even on the huge pieces), and there is no masking or taping. It is all hand/eye coordination on those deliberate hard edges. I find the process extremely mediative, and the more I fall into the work as I apply my paint, the better the outcome. This is minimalist abstraction in its purest form.
